Megan Scudellari is a freelance science writer based in Boston, Massachusetts, specializing in the life sciences. Her works appears in Nature, Newsweek, Bloomberg News, Scientific American, Discover, and Technology Review, among others.

She is the co-author of a college biology textbook, Biology Now, now in its fourth edition from publisher W. W. Norton

From 2016 to 2021, Megan wrote for IEEE Spectrum’s Human OS blog, and became a contributing editor at the magazine. She worked as a health columnist for the Boston Globe (2015-2017), a contributor to Retraction Watch (2016-2017), and a correspondent then contributing editor at The Scientist magazine (2009-2014). 

Megan’s work has been recognized repeatedly by the Awards for Excellence in Health Care Journalism. In 2013, Megan received the National Press Foundation’s prestigious Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award in recognition of outstanding reporting and writing in science. The award is bestowed upon one science journalist annually.  

Megan received an M.S. from the Graduate Program in Science Writing at MIT, a B.A. at Boston College, and worked as an educator at the Museum of Science, Boston. She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers and the Association of Healthcare Journalists.
